ACCESSIBILITY at the Knitty Kitty

We have multiple handicap parking in front of our store that are van accessible. The entrance is accessible with flat terrain and a manual operated door. 

Service animals (dogs or miniature horses trained to mitigate the handlers disability) are welcome in the shop section of The Knitty Kitty. Service animals in the cat lounge ARE NOT allowed as it fundamentally changes the essential nature of the cat lounge and puts the service animal and our cats safety's at risk.  

The minimum door width is 36in. Bathroom is not ADA compliant but is partially accessible. Door opens outwards, most wheelchairs or service animals can fit, and there is a roll under sink. Note that power wheelchairs may have a difficult time maneuvering in the bathroom due to size.

Keep on the look out for sensory friendly cat lounge hours in which the lights will be dimmed and the room will be quiet!

NOTE: Shop section is small. We suggest if you have mobility devices to come early to shop before there is a line of people waiting with your group!

If you have a mobility impairment and would like to be escorted into the cat lounge early, please let us know and we will do so. We have a ten minute buffer time to tidy up in which we can let you in. 

If your are blind or visually impaired, please come early so we can assist you to your needs. We are happy to accommodate you by letting you in the cat lounge before the main group. You may also request to be shown around the cat lounge to become familiar before your group arrives.
